PhD Student Boston University
ABOUT ME I am a PhD student in The Davies Marine Population Genomics Lab at Boston University. My research is focused on symbiosis. Why do relationships establish between species and why do they break down? To answer these questions I am currently working with the temperate coral Astrangia poculata and its symbiosis with algae in the family Symbiodiniaceae. I utilize modern genomic tools in order to look "under the hood" of these animals to gain insights as to the molecular underpinnings of this relationship. Previously, I have worked on how coral keep track of time with Dr. Peter Vize at the University of Calgary. I have also worked as an aquarist at Ripley's Aquarium of Canada and the Shaw Center for the Salish Sea. Besides research I enjoy fly-fishing and adventuring with my partner in crime and my wolf-like dog. |
